Lectron EV Charger Adapter Review 2026: Tesla to J1772 & CCS Adapters

As the EV charging landscape evolves, adapters bridge the gap between different connector standards. Lectron makes some of the most popular EV charging adapters. We tested their full lineup to see which ones are worth buying.

The Adapter Landscape in 2026

  • Tesla vehicles use NACS connectors natively
  • Most other EVs use CCS or J1772 connectors
  • Tesla Superchargers now support CCS via Magic Dock at most locations
  • Non-Tesla Level 2 chargers use J1772

This creates several adapter needs depending on your vehicle and the chargers you encounter.

Adapters We Tested

1. Lectron J1772 to Tesla (NACS) Adapter — [Buy Here](#affiliate) (~$60)

What it does: Lets Tesla owners charge at non-Tesla J1772 Level 2 stations.

Tesla includes a J1772 adapter with every vehicle, so this is primarily a backup or replacement. Lectron's version works identically to Tesla's OEM adapter at a lower replacement cost.

Verdict: Only buy if you lost or damaged your Tesla-included adapter. Works well but redundant for most Tesla owners. Rating: 8.0/10

2. Lectron CCS to NACS Adapter — [Buy Here](#affiliate) (~$150)

What it does: Lets Tesla owners use CCS DC fast chargers (Electrify America, EVgo, EV Charger?" class="internal-link">ChargePoint DC).

With Tesla Superchargers now widely available, the need for CCS access has diminished. However, in areas with sparse Supercharger coverage or during peak travel times, having CCS access provides valuable backup options.

Verdict: Worth having for road trips in areas with limited Supercharger coverage. Not essential for urban Tesla owners. Rating: 8.3/10

3. Lectron Tesla (NACS) to J1772 Adapter — [Buy Here](#affiliate) (~$70)

What it does: Lets non-Tesla EVs charge at Tesla Destination Chargers (Level 2).

Tesla Destination Chargers at hotels and restaurants use the NACS connector. This adapter lets any J1772 EV access those chargers. Useful for road trips where a hotel has Tesla Destination Charging but no J1772 options.

Verdict: Useful for non-Tesla EV owners who road trip frequently. Many hotels are adding J1772 chargers, reducing the need over time. Rating: 8.5/10

Build Quality

All Lectron adapters feel solidly constructed with quality materials. The connectors fit snugly without excessive play. Over several months of testing, none showed signs of wear or degradation.

The adapters include LED indicator lights showing connection status, which is helpful for confirming a proper connection.

Safety Considerations

Adapters add an additional connection point, which theoretically increases resistance and heat generation. In our testing, Lectron adapters ran at temperatures well within safe limits during extended charging sessions.

All Lectron adapters are ETL certified, meaning they have been independently tested for safety compliance.

What to Carry

Tesla owners: Keep a CCS-to-NACS adapter in the trunk for road trips. You already have a J1772 adapter from Tesla.

Non-Tesla EV owners: Keep a NACS-to-J1772 adapter in the trunk for accessing Tesla Destination Chargers at hotels.

FAQ

Do adapters reduce charging speed? Level 2 adapters (J1772/NACS) do not noticeably reduce charging speed. CCS adapters may slightly reduce DC fast charging speed due to communication protocol differences, but the effect is minimal (typically less than 5% speed reduction).

Are Lectron adapters safe? Yes. They are ETL certified and designed with appropriate safety features. However, always inspect adapters for damage before each use — a bent pin or cracked housing should be replaced immediately.

Do I need an adapter to use Tesla Superchargers with a non-Tesla EV? At most Supercharger stations with Magic Dock, no adapter is needed. The Magic Dock provides a CCS connector directly. However, some older Supercharger stations may still require an adapter — check the Tesla app for station compatibility.
